Gym Bros and Sports Bras

Who cares?

No one.

Harsh but true.

And it is so liberating.

You are not as interesting to random strangers as you may think and once you realise that life gets amazing.

I used to be so nervous about putting my face on a website....every week when I press the button on this blog I fight the fear of being judged and thought of as being a lesser version of a previous me.

Actually what I am being is the real me - a better version of anything I presented for years to fit in with life around me.

When I say no one cares, you understand that people do care about you. Your loved ones care and they want you to be happy and fulfilled but as for the general population who do not know you....they are too busy thinking about themselves and their own sets of problems, issues, challenges. Why would they care about what you're doing?

I recently joined a gym for the first time in years. There is always something a little intimidating about going into a gym for the first time - especially the weights section full of gym bros and sports bras; people who 'work out'. Like...properly work out.

I have put on a few pounds since the last time I laced up my trainers and was no longer sure of the weights I should be lifting or what programme I should follow.

So, I found a programme, got my head down and grabbed some weights. I dropped some, I had to change some to lower or higher weights. I almost fell off a bench. I could not figure out how to change the settings on the machines.

No one judged me or laughed at me. No one even looked my way.

Confidence is something I talk to clients about a lot....I mean A LOT. It is a tough thing to step out of our comfort zone but once you break through the self imposed barriers, the sense of achievement is amazing.

Being your authentic self is amazing. Taking positive action towards your goals and dreams is life changing and exciting.
